EV Star
GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete range of heavy- and medium-duty all-electric vehicles, including models with lower and high floors. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their most popular vehicle and it can be customized to suit a variety of applications. The platform's design philosophy of clean sheets allows for optimal battery pack placement and a lower center of gravity resulting in higher payload to range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX was designed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries as well as catering applications. The refrigerated trucks of class 4' one interior wall structure and a higher insulation level than conventional trucks, enable seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer life span. The EV Star REEFERX has a higher capacity for cargo and an industry-leading payload to reach the range of zero-emission transport of passengers or goods.
GreenPower joined forces with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems that will enable fleets to easily make the transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star is also capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW.

We were able to test drive the EV9 on the local highway for a few hours. We found it easy to drive and comfortable to drive for long distances. The EV9 is able to suppress wind and road noise while on the highway. It is smooth on bumps and ruts. The acceleration is surprisingly quick, and the car comes with adjustable regenerative braking that allows "one pedal driving" by lifting off of the accelerator.
The EV9 offers a great range and can be recharged in just three hours or less at home, or using any commercial charger. The driver has the option of choosing between two operating modes: eco mode and sport mode. Eco mode is a great way to increase the torque, cruise control and handling, while sport mode increases speed. Both are fun to drive and provide a unique driving experience for anyone that has never driven an electric vehicle before.
GreenPower offers several other eVehicles which include a multi-purpose electric minibus dubbed the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used for executive shuttles, transit or microtransit vanpools, buses, or paratransit vehicles.
GreenPower produces about 10 EV Star busses a month for Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 electric cars. With the Biden Administration planning to electrify school buses across the country, GreenPower plans on ramping up production to meet demand. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be tested in Altoona and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant and ADA certified. They will be eligible for federal transit grants. We will be following the AV Star as it begins its demonstration tour later this year. We will provide more details on this exciting EV.
